2023 Notice For Food Store Visitors

THE AREA IN FRONT OF THE PERSPEX SCREEN SHOULD BE KEPT FREE FOR THE VISITOR TO STAND. USE THE GAP BELOW THE PERSPEX SCREEN TO PASS THE FOOD STUFFS ONTO THE NEW BENCH ATTACHED TO THE COUNTER, FOR THE VISITOR TO PACK INTO THEIR BAG. DO NOT LET THE VISITOR TRY TO COME AROUND THE SCREEN.

PLEASE POSITION THE TABLE IN FRONT OF THE DOOR FOR THE VISITOR TO HAND SANTISE. GLOVES ARE AVAILABLE SHOULD THEY BE REQUIRED. ONCE THE VISITOR HAS SANTISED, PLEASE ASK THEM TO STAND BEHIND THE PERSPEX SCREEN. IT IS IMPORTANT TO ENSURE THAT THE SELF DISTANCING RULES ARE RESPECTED.

SJOS Food Store Set-Up

  • The health and safety of all SJOS Volunteers and Visitors to the Food Store is the primary concern for SJOS
  • Remember the “stay at home when unwell” rule, and try to reinforce this with any visitors who appear unwell
  • For the health and safety of all, it is important to protect yourself and others by maintaining good hygiene and social distancing.
  • The use of masks while in the Food Store is still recommended
  • It is also recommended that all Food Store Volunteers and Visitors use the hand sanitiser while in the store.
  • SJOS provides protective gloves, masks, hand sanitisers and disinfectant for use, plus a supply of wipes so please use them.
  • It is important that all visitors stand behind the screen.
  • To ensure the health and safety of all volunteers, the food store items should be passed under the screen for the visitor to collect.
  • The visitor is not supposed to reach around the screen
  • The small table should be placed in front of the partition with the sanitiser and other giveaway items placed on this table.
  • The green plastic tray should be used for the visitor to place their Centrelink card on the tray, to give to the Food Store Volunteer.
  • All visitors MUST SHOW ID to the store volunteer
  • Any new visitors must be registered before getting any items
  • All SJOS Volunteers should try to reinforce social distancing.
  • Chairs are available and they should be placed in “social distancing” positions, 1.5 metres, outside the entrance to the Food Store.
  • Visitors are allowed ten (10) items only, including eggs, cheese, and toiletries.
  • Please ask the visitor for patience if some items are not available.
  • Please remind the visitor that no one is allowed to collect for another

SJOS FOOD STORE SET-UP PROCEDURES

Thursdays

  • 9:50 am Arrival at the office for the key
  • Set-up the Chairs outside, the table in place, the vegetables on bench and the eggs/cheese on desk
  • Open the store at 10:00 am

Saturdays and Sundays

  • 2:50 pm Arrival at the Priory for the key
  • Transfer half of the bread & rolls into 2Way freezer
  • Set-up the chairs outside, the table in place, the vegetables on bench and the eggs/cheese on desk
  • Open the store at 10:00 am
  • At the end of each shift, please make sure that all chairs, tables and remaining produce are stored away

Please restock the shelves and leave the store tidy

WELCOME

  • Please show due respect to all the SJOS Volunteers for their efforts for you.
  • Please be patience as you wait your turn
  • We allow only one visitor at a time in the Store
  • All visitors must stand behind the Perspex Screen
  • All visitors must sanitise their hands on arrival
  • No visitor should reach around the screen
  • Each visitor is only allowed 10 items per visit
  • Only one visit per month per visitor is allowed
  • No one can collect for another person
  • We do not allow duplication of items
  • An ID must be shown to the SJOS Volunteer
  • Only one family member per visit is allowed
  • SOCIAL DISTANCING is a must!
  • Please show courtesy to everyone
  • We will not tolerate any Aggression or Rudeness

2023 NOTICE FOR FOOD STORE VISITORS

EMERGENCY FOOD RELIEF DISTRIBUTION

The SJOS Food Store supports emergency food relief to all visitors who present themselves to the Food Store, BUT, we DO NOT allow any visitor to collect on behalf on anyone else, other than the person named on the Centrelink card they present.

Anyone who is physically unable to visit The SJOS Food Store needs additional support from registered local care support services and SJOS cannot provide such support facilities.

Please consider seeking support for those unable to leave their homes. Some organisations to call are:

  1. City of Stonnington on 03 8290 3224 for assistance and support
  2. St Martin’s Anglican Church Hawksburn on 03 9827 3324, as they deliver food parcels
  3. UnitingCare Prahran on 03 9051 1400, as they provide various emergency relief
  4. Hope Prahran on 03 9510 3326, as they provide emergency food relief
  5. Launch Housing on 1800 825 955 for various emergency relief support services
  6. Salvation Army on 03 9653 3299 for assistance with various support services

For ongoing care and support it is important that the authorities know about those who are physically unable to leave their homes.
